ScotCreate

January 2024

Our very first Newsletter... Something exciting this way comes...

As a turbulent but exciting 2023 has come to a close, we greet the new year with much enthusiasm, many new plans and ideas, and a renewed passion to grow our platform and invite new people to join us!

ScotCreate has been put together to become a space where any kind of content creator, be it streamer, video maker, podcaster, digital artist, musician or otherwise, can have a warm welcome and find a community of like-minded, passionate people. With content creation being at the intersection of so many different other industries recognising its great value should be evident and we endeavour to emphasise that in anything we do. ScotCreate is a community that invites you to join this aspiration!

The first step on our agenda this year is to address the gap of information that exists in Scotland about anything content creation, gaming, esports and similar. This has been brought up to us many times by frustrated folks who find themselves in the dark about what is going on about any of these topics. Therefore, creating a newsletter to slowly start bridging that gap and bring attention to the fantastic creative digital ecosystems in Scotland is key. This very first newsletter will be calling attention to some news, many fun games that have recently been published in Scotland and also many game related events that are on the calendar for this year!

Of course, we can only talk about as many things as we know and hear about. Therefore, this newsletter is as much a start to bridging the information gap as it is a call to invite people to reach out to us with their events, games, news and more!

We want to hear from you and we hope that you too will see the value of the work we do! You can find all our contact details on the website.

News

Arcadia Stadium Dundee

Announced in 2020, the news and building of an esports arena in Dundee had been brought to a halt throughout the pandemic, with many left wondering whether it would be built or not. More recently it has been announced that work on the reimagined multi-use facility will be going ahead, however, with a reduced capacity for visitors once built. Its planned world-leading streaming capabilities would bridge the decrease in seating capacity and make the venue an attractive space for celebrities from all over the world.

However, being revealed under the name ‘Arcadia’, the venue has already had to face its first criticism, namely from the creators, producers and fans of the Arcadia Festival, a games festival that has been produced by Biome Collective in Dundee and run since 2017. In particular, the fact that the events venue company had not even talked to the Arcadia Festival about this branding has created some backlash.
