Well well folks, the months of events are upon us and the next two months will have several fun ones for you to attend! We want to highlight especially the Glasgow Indie Games Festival below who have been terrific at engaging the gaming communities around Scotland and have a nose for creating awesome events!
No new games this month unfortunately but hey, want to play games? Then attend some of the events featured below!
Games, games, so many new games! Also horrendous heat, so the best time to have a look at all these new releases and play some games! What are your favourites for this summer? I think I must go with an old one called One Hour One Life, so much fun!
Not to speak of all the events coming up; will we see any of you at the Glasgow Indie Games Festival?
For all those leaving on holidays, we wish you a great time off and hope you return from your break relaxed and well!
Are we still living in Scotland? It feels way too bright and sunny outside! But that does not stop this newsletter from coming out and bring you this: games! Well one game for now, but be excited for the next few months because they promise a lot more. Also events! A summer packed full of fun and fantastic game, anime, esports, tabletop and more events.
Also have you seen the Phase event in September? Well, there shall be some amazing and fantastic content creators and streamers there to tell you their experiences and perceptions! Not to miss for those interested in content creation and streaming!
Spring time is finally here! Warmer temperatures, better weather and more and more events joining the list for this summer! Anticipation for new games is also still building. The studios are ramping up for summer, so hopefully we will have some fantastic new titles soon!
We especially want to highlight the Glasgow Independent Games Festival which will be happening in August! For all the lovers of indie games, this will be your event! At least one of us will be there too (hopefully both) and we would love to meet more gaming, streaming, content friends there! For more information, have a little peek below!
Spring is here folks and the game studios seem to be gearing up! No releases this month from what we can tell, but keeping an eye on many, many titles supposed to release this year, so stay tuned!
This month I really want to highlight that the Glasgow Indie Games Festival is coming back this summer! Read more below. The last time this event was organised it also got much interest by some fabulous content creators who were mighty curious about the games being shown there, so we highly recommend you go and check it out, if only to meet some awesome folks!
Look at all those events planned for this year!
Unfortunately there have been no new games released this month in Scotland but events are being announced left and right!
Have a look at our calendar as well for a quick oversight of what is happening and more information have a wee read through all the events below!
We will keep an eye out for all the exciting things happening this year and keep you up to date, so make sure to follow us on socials and join our Discord!
Happy (late January) New Year to everyone!
And what an up and down this year has already been! Our start into the new year has been slow, with many things to consider and many matters to address and discuss among our wee team. We are moving ahead though and hope that you will stick around for this year as well!
2024 has felt like a long year, long but great! As we look back there have been many ups and downs, but it’s the ups that we are counting! From pizza meet-ups, to playing games together on our Discord, finding more people at all kinds of events, and now launching our website calendar, ScotCreate is slowly but steadily making strides forward. With a new logo and more ideas we also plan to push our platform forward in 2025 and hope you come along for the ride!
We hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and wish everyone a wonderful New Year! Toast to yourselves
What a fantastic time we had the Glasgow Twitch meetup; awesome new people, an exciting pub quiz and a really good time! We cannot thank the fantastic Toastie (@Toastie202) and JustKaalin (@JustKaalin) enough for organising such a great event! Hopefully even more folks will join next time and we would love to see you!
As for ScotCreate, we have a new logo! Have you spotted it yet on our socials? Happy days! We will be using this to create more things in the future, so keep an eye out! (Also as a side note, we have hoodies, at the moment only for ourselves, but who knows, maybe for everyone in the future?)
Winter is slowly rolling in and the holidays are approaching, which also means that fewer events are happening at the moment as everyone is preparing for the next year. This year has seen many fantastic ones and hopefully the new one brings more as well!
You thought winter was here! Why of course not; two cold days and that was it for now. Well, all the more time to not start freezing just yet!
Imagine our excitement when we heard that the Glasgow Twitch meetup was back and we will get to meet more awesome streamers and content creators! We can’t wait for it! Also, on another positive note, we got a new thing coming out soon, so stick around to see what it is! Yes, I am being very secretive!
Finally had the chance to go see the Game On Exhibition in Edinburgh and absolutely recommend it! Arcades, old games, new games, hand-held consoles, VR and most importantly games made in Scotland! Two hours well spent in my opinion! The exhibition is still on until November, so if you have time to go, I highly encourage you to!
Unfortunately, Scottish Games Week is not happening this year as it usually would around this time, but that does not mean that games and game related activities are not going ahead, so keep an eye out for news and more!
The whiplash summer weather has rained on the holiday times! Despite it all though, events around Scotland have kept going and many great content creators have been providing much needed entertainment when being stuck at home! Slowly but steadily ScotCreate is also attracting more folks to join us in our social network!
In that regard, to all content creators, we need you!
In collaboration with Skills Development Scotland we are looking for creators to create a short but creative 20-60 second video (TikTok, YouTube short style) that shows what creators do on and behind the screen. They should also briefly address the skills that they have learned through doing content creation (such as, but not limited to, learning specific softwares, learning about hardware, community management, video production and editing, problem solving, etc.). So, if you do any content online, whether it be on Twitch, YouTube, TikTok or otherwise, please reach out to us! For more information join our Discord!
Still buzzing from all the fantastic events that we attended last month, this month was a tad quieter! Exciting small exciting things are on the horizon for ScotCreate though and we hope you shall see it soon (hint: keep an eye out for any visual changes in the next couple of months)!
As usual, if you think there is anything that should be on this newsletter, be it new games, events or something else, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! We always love to hear from folks!
What an exciting month it has been!
From listening to the fantastic performance by the Scottish National Orchestra and the RSNO Youth Chorus and Changed Voices in Video Game Music in Concert to attending the KitPlus Show in Glasgow, a tech, production, broadcasting and content creator’s dream. Events, fun and meeting fantastic people, the past few weeks have been a delight. Although the weather was not always game, summer has definitely arrived, so have a look at all the other fantastic events that are happening over the next few months!
ScotCreate is coming along and we are still working on getting some matters set up, so look out for news and updates over the coming months!
The news have ebbed, but the fantastic events continue! This spring and summer is truly shaping up to be an exciting one with many, many events to keep us busy! Don’t miss any of them and check them out below!
ScotCreate has some, hopefully, exciting plans in the works and many things we want to work on, so keep an eye out! As usual, if you have anything you would like to share, be it games you are releasing, events you are organising or something else, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
From torrential rain and stormy weather to sunshine and blue skies, April has seen it all except for the usual snow we get around this time of the year (we are still waiting for it)! But come sunshine or rain, ScotCreate trudges on!
We especially want to highlight that we had our first online community play hang-out and we now also hosted our first in-person pizza party! We appreciate everyone who came along to hang out with us and made it so much fun!
April is shaping up to be a somewhat quiet month, but it’s just the calm before the storm! With many games related events and some interesting new game releases in the next few months, we hope to get you excited for what is to come!
March has been a quiet month for games in Scotland as far as we are aware. However, the work on creating a monthly newsletter continues! We will keep you up to date on any games that have been released as well as keep an updated list of any game related events we hear about!
As for us, ScotCreate is slowly but steadily growing with more and more folks joining us on Twitter and Discord! We are also reaching out to more people that will hopefully help us make ScotCreate an even more valuable platform for everyone around. What’s more, plans for our first in-person event! If that’s for you, keep a look-out for our tweets or join our Discord! It’s likely going to be a very casual and informal event, but something to look forward to nonetheless!
As usual, if you have any news, any games you would like to have part of this newsletter or any events you would like shared, please get in touch! We would love to hear more from the games, esports and content creation communities in Scotland!
Another month gone by, and more news and updates!
This is the second newsletter ScotCreate has created for this year with news, games, opportunities and of course events! Alongside our newsletter and our plan to help share more about what’s going on in Scotland in games, esports and content creation, what we do and what we are working to create overall as part of ScotCreate has been getting more attention. Many ideas and plans are still in the works and we will hopefully be able to announce them soon!
We are also happy to mention that we finally had our first Discord community night, getting together and playing some Lethal Company. If having some fun, laughs, and a bunch of banter sounds like something that you would be interested in then join the Discord and come say hi to us! There will be many more to come and as we continue to grow, they will be more frequent and also bigger!
As a turbulent but exciting 2023 has come to a close, we greet the new year with much enthusiasm, many new plans and ideas, and a renewed passion to grow our platform and invite new people to join us!
ScotCreate has been put together to become a space where any kind of content creator, be it streamer, video maker, podcaster, digital artist, musician or otherwise, can have a warm welcome and find a community of like-minded, passionate people. With content creation being at the intersection of so many different other industries recognising its great value should be evident and we endeavour to emphasise that in anything we do. ScotCreate is a community that invites you to join this aspiration!
The first step on our agenda this year is to address the gap of information that exists in Scotland about anything content creation, gaming, esports and similar. This has been brought up to us many times by frustrated folks who find themselves in the dark about what is going on about any of these topics. Therefore, creating a newsletter to slowly start bridging that gap and bring attention to the fantastic creative digital ecosystems in Scotland is key. This very first newsletter will be calling attention to some news, many fun games that have recently been published in Scotland and also many game related events that are on the calendar for this year!
Of course, we can only talk about as many things as we know and hear about. Therefore, this newsletter is as much a start to bridging the information gap as it is a call to invite people to reach out to us with their events, games, news and more!
We want to hear from you and we hope that you too will see the value of the work we do! You can find all our contact details on the website.
